Rockland Youth Symphony

"Where Words Fail, Music Speaks" - Hans Christian Andersen

The Rockland County Music Teacher's Guild, an organization that has been serving music students of Rockland county for over seventy years, is pleased to announce the founding of the Rockland Youth Symphony, with our opening season beginning October 2023. Inspired by the brilliant musicianship of our colleague, Michael Fennelly (internationally acclaimed pianist and conductor, staff pianist at the Juilliard School and the Metropolitan Opera), we are excited to begin our inaugural year with Mr. Fennelly as Music Director.

Founders of Rockland Youth Symphony are RCMTG members Rosemary Waltzer, French Horn player and violinist, Carole Tilson, cellist, Diane Lang, violinist, and bassoonist, Marti Sweet, violinist, Steve Cohen, pianist and Michael Fennelly, pianist and conductor.

Our goal is to bring dedicated young musicians together to play in a full symphony orchestra.  Working together weekly, and with the support of music educators throughout our county, we are thrilled to be a part of providing a showcase for the musical talents of our young people through performances of timeless music.
